Guilford's Scott Meguid Wins Weekly Award
Greensboro, N.C. (9/17/07) -- Junior Scott Meguid captured his first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week Award Monday. He is Guilford's second recipient of the weekly ODAC men's soccer prize in as many weeks.
A 5-9, 145-pound forward, Meguid scored three goals and an assist in the Quakers' 1-1 week. He scored twice in Guilford's 3-2 loss to Methodist University, the region's seventh ranked team, Sept. 11. The match marked the fourth time he has scored a career-high two goals. Meguid also netted the game-tying goal and assisted the game-winner in Saturday's 3-2 win over conference-rival Bridgewater College.
Meguid ranks fifth in career assists (14), seventh in career points (48) and 10th in career goals (17) in school history. He currently leads the team in assists (3) and second on the team in points (11), trailing last week's ODAC Player of the Week, Joe Rigert, by two points.
Coach Jeff Bateson's Quakers (3-4) travel to Virginia Wesleyan College Tuesday (9/18) looking to improve their 1-0 conference record.
