Late Score Lifts Men's Soccer Over Mountain State, 2-1

Lynchburg, Va. (9/10/06) -- Guilford's Scott Meguid scored his second goal of the match with 1:06 remaining to give Guilford a 2-1 win over Mountain State Sunday night in the third game of the Shellenberger Classic. Meguid's tally came off a Joe Rigert crossing pass and gave Guilford a 2-0 record in the tournament.
Meguid, who scored four goals in the tourney's two games, got the Quakers (2-1-1) on the board in the 64th minute by scoring off a Robbie Fisher feed. Mountain State (0-5) knotted the match on Keith Allison's unassisted tally with 5:34 to play.
Guilford outshot the Cougars, 23-8. Quakers' keeper Zane Campbell made one save.
The Quakers return to action Sept. 13 with a 4:00 p.m. scrimmage with Louisbrug Junior College on Guilford's Haworth Field.
