Guilford Scores 5-0 Men's Soccer Win Over Emory & Henry

(10/24/06) -- Joe Rigert scored two goals and an assist to lead Guilford past visiting Emory & Henry, 5-0, Tuesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer match Tuesday. Scott Meguid added a goal and three assists for the Quakers in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Guilford (5-11-1, 2-7 ODAC) got on the board in the seventh minute when Meguid set up senior Ryan Huber, who banged home his third goal of the season from 20 yards out. Six minutes later, Meguid fed Rigert a low cross and the sophomore buried it from close range for a 2-0 Quakers' edge. Rigert fed Meguid just over three minutes later on a give and go for a 3-0 Guilford lead that stood until halftime.

Rigert's second goal off Meguid's career-high third assist in the 60th minute opened the second-half scoring. Mark Jarvis concluded the scoring 78 seconds later on a penalty kick.

Guilford senior goalie Zane Campbell recorded four saves for his third shutout of the season. The four-year starter concluded his career with nine career shutouts, which ranks second in school history. His 262 saves stand third on Guilford's career chart.

E.J. Watkins yielded Guilford's first three goals before rookie Brad Coon replaced him and made all of the Wasps (6-10-2) six saves. Guilford outshot Emory & Henry, 20-6.
