Scott Meguid Earns All-Region Honors
Greensboro, N.C. -- Guilford College's Scott Meguid earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division III All-South Region Team Monday. Meguid was a second-team all-region pick.
Meguid, a 5-9, 145-pound sophomore forward, made 16 starts in the finest season of his career and became Guilford's 11th First Team All-ODAC pick last month. He led the Quakers with a career-high 24 points on 10 goals and four assists, both team highs. Meguid ranked second among ODAC goals and points per game leaders and fifth in assists per match. He scored a career-high five points with a goal and school record-tying three assists in the Quakers' 5-0 win over Emory & Henry October 24. Meguid earned a spot on the Shellenberger Classic All-Tournament Team in September after netting two goals in Guilford's victories over Ferrum and NCAA Division II Mountain State. He enters his junior campaign ranked eighth on Guilford's career assists chart with 10 helpers in 32 matches.
First-year head coach Jeff Bateson led the Quakers to a 5-11-1 record, 2-7 in the ODAC. Guilford missed the ODAC Tournament for the second time in seven years. Bateson expects 19 letter winners, including Meguid, to return in 2007.
