GUILFORD DEFEATS LYNCHBURG IN MEN'S SOCCER 4-3
LYNCHBURG, VA (10/22/05) -- The Guilford College men's soccer team made
the most of its eight shots Saturday afternoon, posting a 4-3 win over Lynchburg
College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
With the game tied at three at the 64:43 mark of
the second half, Guilford's Joe Rigert led Mike McCaffrey for the
game-winner. The Hornets had several scoring chances late in the second
half but the Quakers held on for the win despite being out shot 22-8.
Guilford held a 3-2 advantage at halftime, but
Casey Zambor found Zack Waters at 53:14 to tie the score. Waters scored twice
for LC while Keith Brown had one goal. Zambor assisted on both of Waters'
scores.
Rigert had a goal and an assist for Guilford (6-7-3/2-6 ODAC) and
Lenny Niedosik, Greg Haver and McCaffrey each had a tally.
Zane Campbell made six stops for Guilford.
Guilford travels to ODAC rival Emory & Henry for
its final regular season game Tuesday at 4 p.m.
