GUILFORD'S UNBEATEN MEN'S SOCCER STREAK SNAPPED AT METHODIST, 2-1
Fayetteville, NC (10/04/04) -- Gregg Cohen's goal with 15:39 left in the match lifted host Methodist to its fourth straight men's soccer win, a 2-1 non-conference decision over Guilford Monday.
The victory snapped Guilford's (5-4-3) longest unbeaten streak since its school-record nine-match winning streak at seven (4-0-3). The loss also marked the end of Guilford senior Matt Feraci's Old Dominion Athletic Conference streak of eight straight matches with at least one goal.
The host Monarchs (6-4) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Thomas Bennett scored on a breakaway set up by an Andrew Neff feed 15 seconds into the match. Guilford tied the match on Andres Miranda's header in the 71st minute off of a Greg Hinkle direct kick.
The physical match featured 37 combined fouls and five yellow cards, four on Methodist.
Guilford returns to action Wednesday (10/06) at Chowan at 4:00 p.m.
