Murfreesboro, NC (10/06/04) -- Guilford's men's soccer team played to its school-record fourth tie of the season Wednesday when the Quakers and host Chowan failed to scored in 110 minutes of play.
The scoreless draw marked the Quakers' (5-4-4) first match without a goal this season. Guilford, ranked 10th in this week's NSCAA/adidas Division III South Region Poll, is 4-1-4 in its last nine matches.
Guilford sophomore goalie Zane Campbell (Frederick MD/Frederick) made four saves in the match for his second shutout of the season. The Quakers outshots their hosts, 17-16, but could not get the ball past Chowan goalie Hector Romero, who made two of his seven saves in overtime.
The Quakers host Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Washington and Lee Saturday (10/9) at 3:00 p.m. at Haworth Field.
