Men's Soccer Release (2004) - Feraci POW(2) - Guilford College

  • GUILFORD'S FERACI WINS SECOND STRAIGHT ODAC HONOR

Greensboro, NC (09/27/04) -- Guilford College senior Matt Feraci (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) received his second straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week Award Monday. He becomes Guilford's first men's soccer student-athlete to win the league's weekly prize in consecutive weeks.

A 5-11, 190-pound forward, Feraci (pronounced ferr-AH-see) tallied three goals and two assists in the Quakers' 1-0-1 week. He extended his goal-scoring streak to a league-record six matches with two goals in Guilford's 7-0 victory over Averett and the game-tying score with less than 10 minutes left in Saturday's 1-1 tie at Bridgewater. Feraci added two assists in the Averett win for a career-high six points in the match and eight points for the week.

Feraci transferred to Guilford in August from Division I Appalachian State. He has filled one of the Quakers' biggest voids after last May's graduation Tim Imafidon '04, Guilford's career goal-scoring leader. Feraci has scored at least once in eight of the Quakers' nine matches and his league-leading 12 goals rank seventh in school history. He ranked 24th among the NCAA Division III goals per game leaders through matches of September 19. Feraci also leads the ODAC in points (28), goals per match (1.3) and points per match (3.1).

Coach Liam Behrens' unit is unbeaten in its last five contests (2-0-3) and has a 3-3-3 overall record (0-0-3 ODAC). The Quakers visit league-rival Roanoke Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The Maroons are ranked 10th in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA Division III South Region Poll.
