  • FOUR QUAKERS TABBED FOR ALL-ODAC MEN'S SOCCER SQUAD

Greensboro, NC (11/12/02) -- Guilford junior Tim Imafidon (Raleigh, NC/Wake Forest-Rolesville) earned first team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer honors the league announced Tuesday. The loop's head men's soccer coaches tabbed juniors Ampofo Darko (Kumasi, Ghana/Sandy Spring Friends (MD)), T.J. Muse (Reidsville, NC/Southeast Guilford) and Noam Sorek (Atlit, Israel/Ort Hiriak Bialik) for the second team and gave junior Brett Ralls (High Point, NC/Ledford) honorable mention laurels.

Guilford's four All-ODAC honorees mark the school's highest total since joining the league in 1991.

A second-team All-ODAC pick in 2001, Imafidon (right) led Guilford's scorers for the second straight season with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists. His 24 points and 10 goals rank eighth in Guilford history. Imafidon stands sixth among this week's ODAC scoring leaders with 1.33 points per match. He also ranks fourth in goals and goals per match (0.56). Imafidon scored a team-high five game-winning goals and netted a career-best three tallies in the Quakers' October 26 ODAC win at Eastern Mennonite. The team captain ranks second in career scoring at Guilford with 67 points (29g, 9a) in 54 matches.

Darko enjoyed the finest offensive season of his career with seven goals and an assist for 15 points, second on the team only to Imafidon. His seven goals stand 10th in the league. Darko tallied five times against ODAC teams, including a career-high two scores in the Quakers' 2-0 win over Emory & Henry October 30. He also netted the lone tally in Guilford's 1-0 win over Bridgewater in the Quakers' first ODAC quarterfinal victory in school history. The goal was his third game-winner of the year.

Muse (right) anchored the Quakers' defense that ranked fourth in the ODAC with 1.42 goals allowed per match. Guilford recorded eight shutouts in 2002, including four in ODAC wins. Muse started all 21 matches at center back and helped the Quakers record their fewest goals allowed since 1987 (27).

Sorek returned to the lineup after a one-year absence and finished third on the team with 11 points on three goals and a club-best five assists. A second-team All-ODAC selection in 2000, Sorek played in 19 matches at center midfield. His goal against Methodist September 11 was the game's lone tally and gave Guilford its first win over the Monarchs in eight meetings. Sorek matched his career high with three points (1g, 1a) in the Quakers' October 24 win over Averett. He ranks sixth on Guilford's career assists list (10) and 10th in career points (38).

Ralls (right) also manned a central midfield position and contributed three goals and two assists for a personal-best eight points in 18 appearances. A team captain, he scored a career-high three points with a goal and an assist in Guilford's 4-1 win over Ferrum September 4. Ralls also assisted Imafidon's game-winning goal in overtime at Bridgewater October 5.

Coach Liam Behrens' Quakers finished the program's best season since 1986 with an 11-6-2 record. Guilford matched a school standard with a 5-3-1 ODAC mark and reached the league tournament semifinals for the first time in school history. The Quakers expect 17 letter winners back for the 2003 season.
