Andrew Vigne Earns Weekly Honor

Andrew VigneGreensboro, N.C. (5/1/07) -- Junior Andrew Vigne won Guilford's Student-Athlete of the Week Award presented by the Quakers' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Tuesday. He had 26 saves against crosstown-rival Greensboro in the Quakers' final game of the season, matching a career high.

Vigne, the team's starting goalie, had 147 saves, 33 ground balls, a .561 saves percentage, and a 11.78 goals against average in 585:36 minutes. He had at least 10 saves in nine games. In 40 career games, Vigne has a 12.33 goals against average, a .549 saves percentage and a 10-27 record in almost 1,962 minutes. His 491 career saves ranks fifth among Guilford's career leaders.


Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among student-athletes and non-student-athletes on the campus. Other recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive to benefit local charities and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.

Coach Andrew Rowe's Quakers logged a 3-10 record in 2007, 0-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Vigne is one of 27 letter winners due back in 2008.
