Todd Bochenek Named Guilford College Student-Athlete of the Week
Greensboro, N.C. (3/22/07) -- Todd Bochenek of the men's lacrosse team won the Guilford College Student-Athlete of the Week Award Monday. The weekly award is presented by Guilford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Bochenek is the prize's first men's lacrosse recipient this season.
Bochenek, a 5-7, 150-pound attackman, scored a goal and assisted on four others in the Quakers' 9-6 nonconference victory over Washington and Jefferson March 17. He scored his goal and assisted three others during Guilford's decisive second-quarter, during which time the Quakers outscored the Presidents, 6-1. Bochenek set up both of teammate Dan Orr's extra-man goals, including a key insurance tally with 2:56 remaining in the game. Bochenek also picked up a season-high five ground balls, two off his career high, and caused a turnover.
Bochenek's 12 points and nine assists lead the Quakers. He ranked second on the team with 13 ground balls. Bochenek stands second among this week's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) assists per game (2.25) leaders.
Coach Andrew Rowe's Quakers carry a 1-3 record into Saturday's league opener at Randolph-Macon this Saturday (3/24). Guilford hosts Oberlin in a nonconference game Sunday (3/25) at 1:00 p.m. in the Armfield Athletic Center.
Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among the school's student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive to benefit local charities and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.
