  • GUILFORD'S BORCHARD LANDS ALL-ODAC LAURELS

Greensboro, NC (5/4/05) -- Guilford College junior Bryan Borchard earned honorable mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) recognition according to a vote of the league's seven head coaches, the league announced Wednesday.

Borchard, a 5-10, 150-pound midfielder, led Guilford in scoring this season with 29 points. He tallied a career-high 21 goals, which ranked second on the team, and dished out eight assists in 13 games. Eleven of his goals and five assists came against league rivals. His team-high six man-up goals ranks third in the league. Borchard stands 10th in the conference through games of May 2 with 1.62 tallies per outing. He had five multi-goal games, including three contests with four goals, and led the Quakers in scoring six times. Borchard matched his career high with six points on four goals and two assists in the Quakers' win over Virginia Wesleyan April 9. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the game, which ended Guilford's 72-game ODAC losing skid that dated to 1993.

Borchard helped head coach Andrew Rowe's club to a 5-9 overall record (1-5 ODAC), which matches the school's highest Division III win total since 1992. In addition to gaining its first ODAC win since 1993, Guilford knocked off crosstown rival Greensboro in its season finale for its first defeat of the Pride since 1996. Rowe expects Borchard and 21 other letter winners back for the 2006 campaign.
