SALEM, Va. (1/15/08) --- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) basketball video webcast takes itself to a new location for the third showing of the season. Roanoke College will play host to the latest edition of the Internet broadcast series, welcoming Guilford College to the C. Homer Bast Center on Wednesday, January 16. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Salem.
Penn Atlantic Inc. will provide the ODAC with its service to stream audio and video across the Internet. All scheduled ODAC events can be accessed from Penn Atlantic’s game schedule (www.pennatlantic.com) as the play date approaches.

Roanoke (9-2, 3-1 ODAC) is in the midst of its second lengthy winning streak of the season, having won each of its past five games. The Maroons started the year with four straight wins before dropping the next two in prelude to the current run. Roanoke enters the contest with the fourth-best defense in the conference (67.4 opp. ppg). They’re especially stingy along the perimeter, holding opponents to a .281 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. On offense, the Maroons feature a balanced attack led by seniors Curtis Peery (13.1 ppg), A.J. Dowell (12.7 ppg) and Josh LaPorte (10.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg). Over the past five games, each has led the team in scoring at least once with Peery dropping a season-high 28 points on Emory & Henry College last week. The Maroons will also look for solid contributions from wing Zach Milton (7.5 ppg) and playmaker Keith Carter (1.32 asst-to-turnover ratio).
Guilford (8-3, 3-1 ODAC) is coming off a pair of high profile wins over Hampden-Sydney College (93-79) and Virginia Wesleyan College (85-69) sandwiched around a loss to Randolph-Macon College (69-60). Ben Strong picked up his third ODAC Player of the Week award for his showing over the three games that included a 34-point effort in the win over H-SC. He has stepped up his game on the other side of the court as well, blocking 16 shots over the last four games. The Quakers have also benefitted from a strong beginning to the new year by swingman Clay Henson. In five games since the calendar turned, Henson has scored at least 18 points four times including a 29-point outing against Averett in which he connected on a school-record tying nine three-pointers. As a team, Guilford leads the ODAC in scoring margin (+15.1 ppg), rebounding margin (+14.5 rpg) and defensive field goal percentage (.351). The Quakers also make the most of their charity tosses, converting an ODAC-best 76.5-percent of their free throws.
