EXTER RECORDS CAREER-HIGH 35 POINTS TO LEAD EAGLES PAST GUILFORD, 90-72
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (11/19/05) --
Junior Ryan Exter recorded a career-high 35 points to lead the Eagles back from
a six-point first-half deficit to prevail 90-72 over Guilford College (N.C.)
Saturday afternoon.
Exter scored 25 of the Eagles 59 second-half
points to spirit the comeback including 6-for-8 from beyond the three-point arc
and 7-for-9 from the charity stripe.
The Eagles opened the second half with a 28-6 run
in the first 5:46 of the half to take a 59-43 advantage sparked by 12 Exter
points (three three-pointers and three free throws).
Michael Pyle added 25 points and 10 boards, while
Denny Joseph was the only other Eagle in double figures with 12 points
and hauled down seven boards. Senior point guard Jake Pickett was a major
contributor to ERAU converting 60.7 percent of its second-half shots from the
field recording seven of his 11 assists in the game during the latter half,
while adding seven steals and turned the ball over just once.
Guilford was led by Ben Strong and Thomas Burge with 16 points apiece. Freshman George Neville added 12 points and a team-high six rebounds.
The Quakers return to action Tuesday (11/22) to take on cross-town rival Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
