  • GUILFORD DROPS MEN'S BASKETBALL OPENER TO LINCOLN, 96-87

Winchester, VA (11/19/04) -- Lincoln (PA) defeated Guilford, 96-87, Friday in the first round of the Impressions Plus Men's Basketball Tournament at Shenandoah University. Lincoln advances to play the host Hornets, which defeated Williamson Trade School, 88-64, in Friday's second game.

Lincoln led, 43-32, at halftime and never trailed in the second half. The Quakers pulled to within five points with 3:20 remaining in the game, but could get no closer.

Guilford junior Genaro Lawhorn paced four Quakers in double-figure scoring with 21 points. Kevin Storus added 15 for the Quakers and Thomas Burge scored 15. Brandon Clifford contributed 12 points.

Guilford plays Williamson Trade School (2-1) Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the consolation game.

  • QUAKERS THUMP WILLIAMSON TRADE SCHOOL, 98-47

Winchester, VA (11/20/04) -- Junior Brad Smith scored 20 points to lead five Guilford players in double-figure scoring Saturday afternoon in the Quakers' 98-47 win over the Williamson Trade School in the consolation game of the Impressions Plus Tournament, hosted by Shenandoah University.

Genaro Lawhorn added 12 points for the Quakers (1-1). Thomas Burge scored 11 points and rookies Ray Edmond and Kevin Storus chipped in 10 points apiece.

The NAIA Mechanics fall to 2-2 with the loss.

Guilford plays Greensboro College Tuesday (11/23) in the Greensboro Coliseum at 8:00 p.m.
