Greensboro, NC (01/27/03) -- Freshman center Genaro Lawhorn (Greensboro, NC/Oak Ridge Military Academy) scored a career- and game-high 18 points off the bench in Guilford's convincing 110-44 nonconference men's basketball win over Roanoke Bible College Monday. Four different Quakers scored in double-figures in Guilford's fourth win in five games and fourth straight home triumph.

Sophomore center Brandon Clifford (Greensboro, NC/Page (UNC Wilmington)) made all eight shots from the floor and finished with 16 points. He scored the Quakers' first eight points of the game from close range. Clifford and Lawhorn combined for 26 points in the first half as the Quakers used their size advantage to take a 52-22 halftime lead. Guilford outscored the Flames, 32-6, in the paint and converted 24 Roanoke Bible turnovers into 31 points.

Roanoke Bible held a brief 9-8 advantage early in the game, but Guilford held the Flames to three field goals over the next 11 minutes and used a 31-5 run to open a 25-point advantage.

Guilford sophomore Greg McDowell (Rutherfordton, NC/R-S Central) made a career-high four three-pointers in seven attempts and finished with a personal-best 12 points off the bench. Sophomore guard Clarence Martin (Reidsville, NC/Reidsville) contributed 10 points and four assists. Senior Matt Lewis (Norwell, MA/Cushing Academy) scored six points and grabbed a season- and game-high nine boards. Guilford shot 54 percent (47-87) from the floor and grabbed a season-high 46 rebounds.

Roanoke Bible junior center Ben Starkey (Garden City, KS) knocked down four three-pointers and paced the Flames with 17 points. Senior forward Robert Yancey (Goochland, VA) added 12 markers. Sophomore guard Will Chancellor (Mechanicsville, VA) scored five points and corralled a team-high eight rebounds, but was hurt by 17 turnovers. The Flames were outscored 70-16 in the paint.

Guilford returns to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m. in the Quakers' Ragan-Brown Field House.
