Bridgewater

Bridgewater College is located seven miles southwest of Harrisonburg in the town of Bridgewater in the Shenandoah Valley. Motorists traveling on Interstate 81 may reach Bridgewater by exiting at the Mt. Crawford-Bridgewater Exit (Exit 240, six miles south of Harrisonburg) and following State Route 257 which is the northern boundary of the College campus.

 

Eastern Mennonite:

From the north: Take Interstate 81 to Exit 251, then turn left on U.S. 11 and right on Mt. Clinton Pike.

From the south: Take Exit 245. Turn left on Port Republic Road, right on Va. 42 and left on Mt. Clinton Pike.

 

 

Emory & Henry

From Asheville, N.C. : North on Rts. 19/23 to Rt. 181; north on Rt. 181 to I-81; north on 81 to Emory (approx. 21/2 hours).

From Atlanta, Ga. : North on I-75 to Knoxville, Tenn.; east on I-40 to I-81; north on 81 to Emory (approx. 6 hours).

From Charleston, W.Va. : South on I-77 to I-81 at Wytheville, Va., south on 81 to Emory (approx. 31/2 hours).

From Charlotte, N.C. : North on I-77 to I-81 at Ft. Chiswell, Va.; south on 81 to Emory (approx. 31/2 hours).

From Knoxville, Tenn. : East on I-40 to I-81; north on 81 to Emory (approx. 2 hours).

From Lexington, Ky. : South on I-75 to Knoxville; east on I-40 to I-81; north on 81 to Emory (approx. 5 hours).

From Richmond, Va. : West on I-64 to Staunton, Va.; south on I-81 to Emory (approx. 5 ½ hours).

From Roanoke, Va. : South on I-81 to Emory (approx. 2 hours).

From Washington, D.C. : West on I-66 to I-81; south on 81 to Emory (approx. 6 1/2 hours).

 

 

Hampden-Sydney

From the north: Take I-95 south to Richmond, Virginia. Then take Rt. 195 south to Powhite Parkway west (toll), follow it to Rt. 288. Take Rt. 288 south to U.S. 60 west. Then follow the signs to Hampden-Sydney via Rt. 307 west, U.S. 460 west, and U.S. 15 south. (To avoid the construction on Rt. 307, you may want to continue on 360 west directly to 460 west.)

From the east: Take I-64 west to Richmond, Virginia. Then take Rt. 195 south to Powhite Parkway west (toll), follow it to Rt. 288. Take Rt. 288 south to U.S. 360 west. Then follow the signs to Hampden-Sydney via Rt. 307 west, U.S. 460 west, and U.S. 15 south. (To avoid the construction on Rt. 307, you may want to continue on 360 west directly to 460 west.)

From the southern coast: Take I-95 north to U.S. 70 west at Smithfield, North Carolina; take U.S. 70 to U.S. 15 north at Durham; follow U.S. 15 north to Hampden-Sydney, six miles south of Farmville.

From the south: Take I-85 north to U.S. 29 north at Greensboro, North Carolina; take U.S. 29 to Danville. From Danville take U.S. 360 eastbound (via U.S. 58) to U.S. 15 north to Hampden-Sydney, six miles south of Farmville.

From the southwest: Take I-81 north to U.S. 460 east to Roanoke, Virginia; take U.S. 460 to U.S. 15 south at Farmville and follow signs to Hampden-Sydney.

From the northwest: Take I-81 south to I-64 east at Staunton, Virginia; take I-64 to U.S. 15 south at Zion Crossroads, east of Charlottesville; take U.S. 15 south to Farmville and Hampden-Sydney.

 

Lynchburg

From the North: Follow Rt. 29 South into the city limits (do not use Rt. 29 Business). Cross the James River and proceed on Rt. 29 to Rt. 501 North (Lynchburg Expressway). Do not take 501 Business. Follow 501 North approximately 4 miles to Rt. 221 North. Turn right onto 221 North (Lakeside Drive) and proceed 2 miles. The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.

From the South: Follow Rt. 29 North into the city limits and pass River Ridge Mall entrance on your right. Exit right ramp to Rt. 501 North and proceed approximately 4 miles to Rt. 221. At the intersection of Rts. 221 and 501 North, turn right onto 221 North (Lakeside Drive) and proceed 2 miles. The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.

From the East: Exit Rt. 460 (right turn) at Candler's Mountain Road. Follow signs to Rt. 501 North (River Ridge Mall will be on your left, and the Days Inn will be on your right). Exit right ramp to 501 North. Follow 501 North about 4 miles. At the intersection of Rts. 221 and 501 North, turn right onto 221 North (Lakeside Drive) and proceed 2 miles. The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.

From the West: From Rt. 460, take the right-hand exit to 460 East Business (Timberlake Road). Proceed 4 miles. At the intersection of Timberlake Road and Rt. 501 North, turn right and follow 501 North about 3 miles to Rt. 221 North. At the intersection of Rts. 221 and 501 North, turn right onto 221 North (Lakeside Drive) and proceed 2 miles. The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.  

 

Marietta (Marietta Shrine Tournament - Dec. 29-30)

From the North: Take I-77 South To Exit 1

From the South: Take I-77 North To Exit 1

From the East: Take I-70 West to I-77 South to Exit 1

From Exit 1, keep right off exit onto Rt-7 South: Continue through 5 traffic lights. At the 6th light (Kentucky Fried Chicken on right), turn right onto 4th Street. Continue down 4th Street through blinking light turn right at next traffic light onto Putnam Street.

From the West: Take U.S. 50 East to Belpre, OH to Rt-7. Follow Rt-7 into Marietta (will become 3rd Street). Turn left at the intersection of 3rd and Putnam Streets.Continue through 2 traffic lights.

The Admission House (red brick with green shutters) is approximately 1 block on the right. Visitor parking is provided on the side of the Admission House.

 

 

North Carolina Wesleyan 139 W.Walnut Street; Goldsboro, NC 27530

From Raleigh/Durham:Follow I-40 East. Bear right onto ramp to US 70 (East). Follow US 70 East to Goldsboro. US 70 East becomes 70 BUS/W. Grantham Street. Continue on W. Grantham Street. Turn right onto N. George Street. Turn left onto W. Walnut Street

From Rocky Mount: Take US 264/301 South. Turn left onto US 117. US 117 becomes Williams Street. Stay on Williams Street to Walnut Street. Turn right onto Walnut Street. Proceed to 139 W. Walnut Street

 

Randolph

A new bypass around Madison Heights (north side of Lynchburg) opened in October 2005. Updated directions to Randolph College are below. Some signs, maps, and Internet directions are still in the process of being updated.

From Charlotte, NC: Take I-85N to Greensboro. Exit on 29N to Danville, VA. Just past the Lynchburg Airport take the exit for 29N/460E. Take the exit for 501N (Buena Vista/Candlers Mountain Road). This will be a left exit. After exiting, stay in the right-hand lane. After the second light, take the exit for 29N Business (Charlottesville). Take exit 1A (Main Street) and follow through downtown. After crossing 5th Street, Main Street becomes Rivermont Avenue. Continue on Rivermont Avenue approximately 2 miles. College entrance will be on your right.

From Norfolk, VA: Follow Route 460W. Stay on 460W through Farmville and Appomattox. Take the exit for 29N (Amherst/Charlottesville).Take the Route 210W (Madison Heights) exit. Turn left at the 4th traffic light on to Highway 163 South. Go down a hill and across the bridge. Turn right at the 2nd traffic light (Rivermont Avenue). Continue on Rivermont Avenue approximately 2 miles. College entrance will be on your right.

From Richmond, VA: Follow I-64 to Charlottesville. Exit onto 29S. Stay on 29S. Exit onto Route 210W (Historic Downtown Lynchburg). Turn right at the stop sign at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the traffic light onto Highway 163 South. Go down a hill and across the bridge. Turn right at the 2nd traffic light (Rivermont Avenue/Main Street). Continue on Rivermont Avenue approximately 3 miles. College entrance will be on your right just after the Macon Bookshop.

From Roanoke, VA: Follow Route 460E. In Lynchburg, take the exit for 501N (Buena Vista/Candlers Mountain Road). This will be a left exit. After exiting, stay in the right-hand lane. After the second light, take the exit for 29N Business (Charlottesville). Take exit 1A (Main Street) and follow through downtown. After crossing 5th Street, Main Street becomes Rivermont Avenue. Continue on Rivermont Avenue approximately 2 miles. College entrance will be on your right.

From Washington, DC:Follow Route I-66W to Route 29S near Gainesville. You will pass an earlier exit for Route 29, which you should not take; wait for the later exit. Continue on Route 29S past Charlottesville. Stay on 29S until the Route 210W (Historic Downtown Lynchburg) exit. Turn right at the stop sign at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the 4th traffic light onto Highway 163 South. Go down a hill and across the bridge. Turn right at the 2nd traffic light (Rivermont Avenue). Continue on Rivermont Avenue approximately 2 miles. College entrance will be on your right.

 

Randolph-Macon

From Greensboro: Take Interstate 85 North to Interstate 95 North (about 140 miles) near Petersburg, Virginia.  Take 95 North through Richmond to Exit 92B - Route 54 West (Ashland). Take Rte. 54 across Route 1 (Your third right).  About 1/2 mile after Route 1, you will turn right onto Henry Street (Just after Hanover Bank). Turn right at the third street on the right, Patrick Street.

 

Roanoke

From northern New England: Take I-91 south to I-84 west at Hartford, CT to I-81 south near Scranton, PA.

From New York City: Take I-95 to the New Jersey Turnpike south to I-78 west at Newark, NJ to I-81 south near Harrisburg, PA.

From Philadelphia: Take I-76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) west to I-81 south near Harrisburg, PA.

From directly east at Richmond, VA: Take I-64 west to I-81south near Staunton, VA.

From south of Virginia: Take I-85 north from Atlanta (or I-95 north from Savannah, GA and I-26 west) to I-77 north at Columbia, SC to I-81 north near Wytheville, VA.

From west of Virginia: Take I-64 east to I-81 south near Lexington, VA.

 

Sewanee, The University of the South (Lon Varnell Classic - Dec. 19-20)

The University is located just minutes from I-24 atop the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville (1.5 hours from campus) and Chattanooga (45 minutes from campus), in Sewanee, Tennessee: 735 University Ave; Sewanee, TN 37375.

Don’t forget: Sewanee is on Central Standard Time (CST).

 

Virginia Wesleyan

From Norfolk, From Downtown Norfolk: Take I-264 East to I-64 West (toward Hampton and Richmond). From I-64, take Exit 282 (Northampton Boulevard/Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Stay to the right on the exit ramp and turn right at the first light (Wesleyan Drive). The College is 2/3 mile on the right.

From Virginia Beach, From the Ocean Front: Take I-264 (or 44) West to I-64 West (toward Hampton and Richmond). From I-64, take Exit 282 (Northampton Boulevard/Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Stay to the right on the exit ramp and turn right at the first light (Wesleyan Drive). The College is 2/3 mile on the right.

From Williamsburg: Take I-64 East (toward Hampton). By-pass Newport News and Hampton. Come through the Hampton Roads Tunnel and continue on I-64 to Exit 282 (Northampton Boulevard/Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Stay to the right off the exit ramp and turn right at the second traffic light (Wesleyan Drive). The College is 2/3 mile on the right.

From Richmond: Take I-64 East (or 295 South to I-64 East). Continue on I-64 East past Williamsburg, Newport News and Hampton. Come through the Hampton Roads Tunnel and take Exit 282 (Northampton Boulevard/Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Stay to the right off the exit ramp and turn right at the second traffic light (Wesleyan Drive). The College is 2/3 mile on the right.

From Points North (I-95 South): Take I-95 south to 295 (Richmond). Follow signs to Virginia Beach/Norfolk to I-64 East. Stay on I-64 through the Hampton Roads Tunnel. Take Exit 282 (Northampton Boulevard/Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Stay to the right off the exit ramp and turn right at the first traffic light (Wesleyan Drive). The College is 2/3 mile on the right.

From Points North (Route 13 South): Take I-95 south to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. After crossing the bridge and paying toll, look for signs to Route 13 South (Dover, Baltimore and Norfolk). Route 13 will take you through the Eastern Shore of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Once in Virginia continue on Route 13 until you reach the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (there is a $10 toll). After crossing the Bridge Tunnel, Route 13 will become Northampton Boulevard. Proceed to the 7th light (Wesleyan Drive) and turn left at light. The College is 2/3 mile on the right.

From Points South: Take I-95 or I-85 north to US 58. Take US 58 East to I-64 West. Follow I-64 to Exit 282 (Northampton Boulevard/Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Stay to the right off the exit ramp and turn right at the first traffic light (Wesleyan Drive). The College is 2/3 mile on the right  

 

Washington and Lee

From I-81 South, I-64 West: Follow interstate 81/64 to Exit 195. Follow the exit ramp and then turn right onto route 11 South. Follow for six miles into Lexington. Route 11 will fork, take 11 Business to the right and follow into town. Take a right at Washington Street and it will take you into the heart of the campus.

From I-64 East: Follow interstate 64 to Exit 55. Follow the exit ramp, turn right onto route 11 South. Follow the above directions.

From I-81 North: Follow interstate 81 to Exit 188B. Take a right onto 60 west and follow into Lexington. Stay on 60 until you reach Main Street and then take a right. At the next intersection (Washington Street) take a left and follow through one light into the heart of campus.
