2009 Grads

Guilford defeated Franklin & Marshall, 79-67, Mar. 21 to claim third place in the NCAA DIvision III Men's Basketball Championships. Championship Series All-Tournament Team member Clay Henson led all scorers with 20 points and set the school record for career three-pointers. Tyler Sanborn notched his 20th double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. He was named a Fourth Team All-American by D3hoops.com later in the day. NCAA Team

Guilford finished with a 26-6 overall record, the program's best since the 1972-73 NAIA national champions went 29-5. Palombo could return as many as 14 letter winners for the 2009-10 campaign.

Nearly 2,000 fans gathered the Quakers' Jan. 31 win over Randolph-Macon College, which capped Guilford's Basketball Legacy Weekend. Six former basketball student-athletes were honored with retired jersey numbers and the Ragan-Brown Field House game court was dedicated in honor of former men's basketball coach Jack Jensen. Men's honorees included Dan Kuzma '64, Bob Kauffman '68, M.L. Carr '73 and World B. Free '76. Elizabeth Parker Haskins '76 and Laura Haynes Spainhour '98 were honored from Guilford's women's team Friday night. Click here for photos and the full release.
