Guilford Stands Eighth at Sea Trail Intercollegiate
SUNSET BEACH, N.C. (9/26/09) -- The Longwood women’s golf squad posted a
second-round score of 295 to move into first place at the Sea Trail
Intercollegiate on Saturday morning. On the men’s side, Wofford moved
into a first-place tie with Stetson after posting a score of 278 on
Saturday.
Guilford College senior Peter Latimer fired a one-under 71 in
Saturday's second round to help Guilford shoot 288 (+3) as a team and
climb two spots into eighth place in the 16-team field. The Quakers
have a total of 582 (+9) after 36 holes. Latimer and teammates Dusty
Roberts and Brian Creghan are all tied in 28th place among 88 golfers
at 145 after 36 holes.
Wofford’s Mark Joye shot a six-under-par 66 to lead the Terriers on
Saturday. He currently leads the field with a two-day score of 136
(70-66) while teammates Garrett Medeiros (69-71) and Mike McKenzie
(72-68) sit in a tie for fourth with a score of 140. Zach Capps is
currently tied for seventh with a score of 141 (68-73). Stetson’s
David McAndrew shot a three-under 69 on Saturday for a two-day score
of 138 and sits tied with teammate Sam Ryder (66-72—138). Gabe Costa
shot a two-under 70 to sit tied for fourth with a score of 140 while
Micah Jacobsen is tied for seventh with a 141 score (69-72). James
Madison sits in third place and is paced by Mike Smith. Smith carded a
72 on Saturday to sit in a tie for seventh (69-72—141). Campbell
currently holds the fourth-place spot. Matt Moot leads the Fighting
Camels with a score of 143 (71-72). Belmont Abbey’s Stephen Keane shot
a two-under 70 on Saturday to sit in a tie for 25th with a score of
144 (74-70).
The men will tee off at 8:30 and the women at 9:30 on Sunday morning
for the final round of the Sea Trail Intercollegiate.
