Quakers' Golfers Finish Sixth at Sea Trail Intercollegiate
SUNSET BEACH, N.C. (9/27/09) -- Stetson University shot the 284 Sunday to win the
Sea Trail Men's Intercollegiate by five strokes over Wofford College
Sunday. The Hatters finished with a three-day score of 841, 23 under
par. Wofford placed second in the 16-team field at 846 (-18) and was
followed by James Madison University (859) and Campbell University
(861).
Guilford College freshman Noah Ratner shot Sunday's
low round, a five-under-par 67, and lifted the Quakers into a share of
sixth place at 870 (+6). Ratner shot 76-72-67-215 in his college debut and placed 16th in the 88-main field. Guilford shot its second
straight round of 288 Sunday and had top-26 finishes by seniors Brian
Creghan (73-72-71-216) and Peter Latimer (74-71-72-217).
Wofford's Mark Joye (208) shot an even-par 72 Sunday and won the
individual title by one stroke over Stetson teammates Sam Ryder (209)
and Micah Jacobsen (209).
The Quakers return home to play in the Greensboro College Invitational
Monday and Tuesday at the Meadowlands Golf Club in Wallburg, N.C.
