Colin Clark Earns Weekly Honors
Greensboro, N.C. (4/24/07) -- Senior Colin Clark won Guilford's Student-Athlete of the Week Award presented by the Quakers' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Tuesday. He won the third college tournament of his career at the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship and earned all-tournament honors after he birdied the final five holes in a career-low round of 66. Clark helped Guilford win its league-record tying 10th ODAC tournament.
Consistently among Guilford's top-three players, Clark's 74.15 stroke average in 20 rounds is the 10th-lowest in Guilford history. He ranks among the NCAA Division III statistical leaders in subpar strokes per round and par-3 scoring according to Golfstat.com. Clark also logged a third-place effort at Guilford's Tom O'Briant Memorial in the fall.
Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among student-athletes and non-student-athletes on the campus. Other recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive to benefit local charities and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.
Head coach Jack Jensen's team is ranked second in Golfstat's Division III Head-to-Head Rankings and in the current Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches' Poll. The Quakers will play for their third national title in six years May 15-18 in Indiana.
