Men's Golf Releases (2005-06) - Preseason ODAC Poll - Guilford College

  • GUILFORD TOPS ODAC GOLF POLL

 

      Greensboro, NC (2/9/06) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) golf coaches selected Guilford first in their preseason poll Thursday. The defending national champions earned 81 points and received all nine first-place votes. Randolph-Macon, the defending ODAC champion, placed second in the poll with 64 points.

 

      Eaton Pride South Region Coach of the Year Jack Jensen welcomes back nine letter winners from last year's team that won its second NCAA Division III National Championship in four years. Junior Colin Clark was the medalist at the NCAA Division III National Tournament last season, becoming Guilford's first NCAA individual national champion. Clark was a PING First Team All-America honoree while senior Jeff Osberg received PING All-South Region honors.

 

      Guilford finished the fall season with the top ranking in the Division III Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA)/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The Quakers won three of their five fall tournaments, including the NCAA Division III Preview. Clark won medalist honors there, senior Chris Lowman tied for third place and junior Joseph Poplin shared ninth.

 

      The Quakers kick off their spring season Feb. 27 with the Pine Needles/Pfeiffer Invitational at Pine Needles Resort in Southern Pines, NC.
