GUILFORD'S CLARK WINS ODAC GOLFER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Greensboro,
NC (4/18/04) -- Guilford College sophomore Colin Clark won his second
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golfer of the Week Award of the season
Monday. Clark is Guilford's fourth recipient of the league's weekly prize
in 2005 and has won the award four times in his two years.
Clark averaged 71.25 strokes over four rounds in two runner-up finishes last week, which helped the Quakers win two tournaments. He took second among 90 competitors with a one-under par 143 at the Emory Spring Invitational April 11-12. Clark's career-low 67 in the event's first round marked the tournament's lowest score and the Quakers' lowest round of the year. His performance helped Guilford win the 17-team event by 12 strokes. Four days later, Clark shot a two-under 69 to lead the Navy Spring Invitational after one round. He shot 73 in the second round to again finish second in the 104-player field that included all but three NCAA Division I teams. The lone Division III squad in the field, Guilford won the event by five shots for its fifth team victory of the season.
Clark leads the ODAC with a 74.26 stroke average through 17 rounds. He has three runner-up finishes in five spring tournaments and has placed among the top-12 student-athletes in six of 10 events.
Coach Jack Jensen's Quakers are ranked third in the April 15 GCAA / Bridgestone Division III Poll. Guilford bids for its unprecedented sixth straight ODAC Championship and league-record ninth overall title April 23-24 at the Olde Mill Golf Club in Laurel Fork, VA.
