Men's Golf Releases (2004-05) - NCAA Division III Bid - Guilford College

  • 2005 NCAA DIVISION III MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

      INDIANAPOLIS, IN (4/28/05) -- The NCAA Division III Men's Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2005 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.

 

      The championships will be held May 9-12, at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, and will be hosted by Oglethorpe University and the Central Florida Sports Commission.

 

      A total of 120 participants will compete at the 2005 championships. Three teams were selected from each of the six regions. The committee then selected five at-large teams nationally. Therefore, in addition to the first three teams selected in each region, there were also three at-large selections from the south region and two at-large selections from the central region. Five individuals were also selected to compete.

      In the 2004 championships, Gustavus Adolphus won the team title, shooting a 292 on the final day to finish with a 4-day total of 1,178 at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club at Oak Valley in Beaumont, California. Redlands finished twelve shots back with a four-day total of 1,190. Ohio Wesleyan's Chad Poling shot a 6-under 282 to win the individual title by two shots over Luke Benoit of Gustavus Adolphus.
