METHODIST CLOSES SEASON-LONG RUN ATOP COACHES POLL

Guilford edges Redlands for the second slot
NORMAN, OK (5/6/05) -- Methodist once again went the entire regular
season ranked number one in the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The Monarchs
grabbed 12 first-place votes this week to stay on top. Guilford - who
garnered a first-place vote of its own - beat out Redlands by a single point
despite the Bulldogs capturing two first-place votes.
Oglethorpe fell from number two to number four
this week - although it did manage to haul in four first-place nods - while
Greensboro and Saint John's (Minn.) switched spots this week to come in at
numbers five and six, respectively. Gustavus jumped up five rungs to
number seven, followed by Emory and Otterbein, who received the final
first-place vote. Nebraska Wesleyan closed out the top ten.
Huntingdon remained at No. 11 for the third poll
in a row while Central fell two spots to No. 12. Texas Lutheran stood pat
at the 13th spot. Wisconsin Eau-Claire rose two slots to No. 14. La Grange slid
a single position to No. 15 while California Lutheran, Illinois Wesleyan, Mary
Hardin-Baylor, LaVerne and Skidmore rounded out the top 20.
Franklin, Allegheny, Saint Thomas, Washington &
Lee and DePauw complete the rankings.
Claremont McKenna-Mudd-Scripps and Ohio Wesleyan
fell from the top 25 rankings.
The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by
a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the
Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III GCAA/Bridgestone
Coaches Poll will reflect the results of the NCAA Championships.
