Guilford College's Josh Vogelbach Wins Weekly Awards
Greensboro, N.C. (9/17/07) -- Guilford College's Josh Vogelbach won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Football Player of the Week Award for the second time this season late Sunday. The announcement marked the sixth time in his career he has received the honor. Vogelbach also picked up Guilford's Student-Athlete of the Week prize, presented weekly by Guilford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), for a second time.

Vogelbach, the Quakers' starting quarterback, passed for seven touchdowns Saturday's 47-13 victory against Averett University in just over three quarters of work. He enjoyed the 14th 300-yard passing game of his career and did not throw an interception. The redshirt junior threw for 360 yards, helping him over the 8,000 career passing yards plateau. The 2006 First Team All-ODAC selection has helped the Quakers to their first 3-0 start since 1999.
Vogelbach completed 75.7 percent (28-37) of his passes in the win over Averett, the third-highest completion percentage in school history. He also became the ODAC's career pass completions leader. Vogelbach ranks second on the ODAC's career passing attempts chart (1,071) and needs 155 more to become the conference's all-time leader. Through 23 college games, Vogelbach owns Guilford's career records for passing yards (8,131), completions (681), attempts (1,141) and touchdowns (88).
Coach Kevin Kiesel's Quakers were picked third in the 2007 ODAC Football Preseason Coaches' Poll after a fifth-place conference finish last season. Guilford puts its 3-0 record on the line against Hampden-Sydney Saturday (9/22) in the Quakers' first ODAC match-up of the season.
Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among student-athletes and non-student-athletes on the campus. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive to benefit local charities and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.
