FERRUM DEFEATS GUILFORD 21-16 IN FOOTBALL
Mulford has 217 Yards Total Offense and Two TDs

The Ferrum College football team picked up a 21-16 win this afternoon over
non-conference opponent Guilford College playing in front of 3,258 fans in its
annual Homecoming & Hall of Fame game.
The win is Ferrum's sixth in the last seven games against Guilford, and
gives the Panthers a 13-5 all-time series lead.
On offense,
Terrell Mulford
had 85 yards rushing on 11 carries. The junior tailback added 132 yards on
a pair of receptions, both of which he converted into touchdowns. Mulford
put Ferrum on the board at 14:05 of the opening quarter with a 77-yard TD pass
from QB
Jermaine Pitts.
Less than eight minutes later, Pitts found Mulford on the same pattern, this
time for a 55-yard TD pass at 6:13 of the first, giving Ferrum a 14-0 lead.
Guilford scored on a Kyle Kiser 1-yard run at the 11:40 mark of the
second quarter to trim the lead to 14-7. In the third quarter, Travis
Frazier's 20-yard field goal attempt split the uprights to pull Guilford to
within 14-10 with 10:07 left in the third quarter. Jerrell Blackman
blocked Frazier's 45-yard FG attempt with 2:04 left in the third.

from four yards out to give the Panthers a 21-10 lead at the 12:40 mark of the
fourth quarter. Guilford would answer back with a 1-yard pass from QB
Chris Gammon to WR Chris Barnette with 1:48 left top play.
Ferrum (3-3) put up 398 yards (250 rushing, 148 passing) in offense, to
Guilford's 263 yards. Pitts was 3-5 passing for 144 yards, with two TDs
and no interceptions for Ferrum. Gammon was 16-36 for 168 yards,
with one TD and three interceptions for Guilford.
All-American DB
Darren Venable
notched 20 tackles and a sack to lead the Panther defensive unit, while
Nicholas Cordero
had 11 tackles.
Bryan Cook led the Quaker defense with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery.
The Panthers return to action Saturday, October 16, at Methodist College in a
USA South Athletic Conference game at 1 p.m. Guilford (0-5) will attempt
to snap an eight-game losing streak, dating back to Nov. 1 last season, when
they entertain reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion Bridgewater
College next Saturday.
