GUILFORD'S DAVIS NAMED ODAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Guilford senior Mark Davis is this week's Old Dominion Athletic
Conference (ODAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Davis, a 6-0, 180-pound strong safety, led the Quakers in tackles for the second consecutive week in Guilford's 35-21 victory over Catholic Nov. 6. Davis had 12 tackles in the game, seven of them solo. He also had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, one pass broken up and a game-high two tackles for loss.
Davis ranks sixth on the defense with 36 tackles in eight appearances this season, including 3.5 tackles for loss. He has one pass breakup, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. After making 15 tackles in his first 11 career contests, Davis has 29 stops in his last two games. He made a career- and game-high 17 stops Oct. 23 at Randolph-Macon, the most tackles by a Guilford player since 1999.
Coach Mike Ketchum's Quakers are 1-8 this season, with a 1-4 record in the ODAC. Guilford closes out the regular season Saturday at ODAC-rival Emory & Henry.
