HARRISONBURG, Va. (4/409) - Eastern Mennonite University swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball doubleheader from visiting Guilford College Saturday, winning 8-2 and 13-4. The wins put the Royals (9-15-1, 4-7 ODAC) back in the hunt for an ODAC Tournament berth, while bringing the Quakers (16-11-1, 5-4 ODAC) back to the pack in the race for the ODAC's top spot.

The Royals took advantage of four Quakers' errors in the opener as all eight of their runs were unearned. Eastern Mennonite broke open a 2-2 game in the bottom of the sixth inning with six runs. Chris Harpine's two-out, bases-loaded single in the inning made it a 3-2 game. Dylan Smith followed with a two-run single up the middle and Jake Norman added a run-scoring double later in the inning.

Michael Moles threw his second complete game of the season and improved to 2-4. He scattered six hits and two runs, one of which was earned, and struck out seven. Smith went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Aaron Martin also had two hits.

In game two, Eastern Mennonite banged out a season-high 19 hits off of five different Guilford pitchers. The Royals scored six times off of Guilford starter Alex Pecevich (1-3) before chasing the sophomore in the second inning. Reid MacLean retired the side in the second, but not before the Royals opened a 6-0 lead. The margin grew to 11-1 before Guilford scored three runs in the final two innings.

The bottom four batters in the Royals' lineup combined for 12 of Eastern Mennonite's hits. Chris Baker was three-for-five with two RBI. Norman, Daniel Martin and Matt Atkins also had three hits. Smith was four-for-four with four RBI and three doubles. Andy Richter improved to 2-3 with the win. He scattered five hits and fanned five in 7.1 innings.
