Guilford Gets First Win Of 2008
EAST POINT, Ga. (2/8/08) – Alex Starbuck’s two-run double highlighted Guilford College’s five-run sixth inning and lifted the visiting Quakers past Atlanta Christian College Friday night, 7-3.
Guilford evens its record at 1-1. The Chargers drop to 1-4 with the loss.
Senior Josh Lane earned the win in relief of starter Drew Gurkin with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Junior Tim Lucas threw the final two frames for his first Guilford save.
Guilford’s Brad Buchman belted his second homer in as many games, a two-run shot in the first inning. Starbuck finished with two hits in the game, as did teammate Josh Sumler.
Sophomore Chris Thompson took the loss for Atlanta Christian.
Guilford continues its three-game swing through Georgia Saturday (2/9) at Piedmont College. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
