Greensboro, NC  (03/22/04) - Freshman pitcher Logan Collier (Winston-Salem, NC/North Forsyth) and sophomore first baseman Rob Bittner (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) were named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, respectively. The league office made the announcement Monday.

Collier, a 6-7 right-hander, won his second and third consecutive starts last week in Guilford's wins over Vassar and Division II St. Augustine's. He fanned four batters while allowing only three hits in 5.2 innings against Vassar and pitched five innings and struck out three versus St. Augustine's. Collier went 2-0 for the week with a 1.69 ERA and seven strikeouts. Collier is tied for the team lead with three wins this season and has a team-best .750 winning percentage. He has 21 strikeouts in 25.2 innings and a 4.68 earned run average.

Bittner's team-high 11 runs batted in (RBI) and two homers helped the Quakers to a 4-0 week. He broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning of Guilford's game against Vassar with a home run, which triggered the Quakers' offense in a 12-3 win. Bittner went seven-for-eight with a home run and seven RBI in a doubleheader sweep of league-rival Randolph-Macon Saturday. He had three hits, including a double, and two RBI in the opener and had four hits and matched his career-high with five RBI in the nightcap. Bittner tripled and had three RBI in the March 21 win over St. Augustine's. He entered Monday's game with Tufts as the Quakers' top hitter with a .419 batting average, five home runs and 22 RBI.

Coach Gene Baker's Quakers have won four of their last five games and 10 of their last 14. Guilford's record now stands at 12-8, 2-2 in the ODAC.
