  • QUAKERS' Miller earns ALL-ODAC RECOGNITION

Greensboro, NC  (05/05/04) - Guilford College junior Josh Miller (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) earned Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball honors Wednesday. The league's nine head coaches selected the annual all-star teams.

Miller, a 6-0, 175-pound outfielder, started all 39 games in left field and batted third for the Quakers. He led the team's batters with a career-high .414 batting average and also paced the club with 10 doubles, two triples and 65 hits. His .414 batting average is the fifth-highest average in Quakers' history and his 65 hits rank third all time. Miller placed second on the club with 39 runs scored, two homers, and 36 runs batted in (RBI). He stands fourth among ODAC hits leaders and fifth in on-base percentage (.483). Miller also ranks among the league's best in batting average (6th) and stolen bases (12, 7th). He had 19 games with two or more hits and nine multiple-RBI contests. Miller concluded the season on a career-long 11-game hitting streak.

Miller captured the ODAC's Baseball Hitter of the Week Award April 12 after hitting .579 with six RBI and three outfield assists in four games from April 5-10. Included in that stretch was a 5-5 performance at the plate against league-rival Emory & Henry April 10. Miller also had four RBI and a triple in the second game of the conference twinbill and went 3-4 in the opener. He was four-for-four with three RBI, four runs scored, a double and a home run in Guilford's 13-2 ODAC win over Randolph-Macon March 20.

Coach Gene Baker's club posted a 20-19 overall record and finished eighth among 10 ODAC teams with a 6-12 league mark. Miller is one of 24 letter winners due back in 2005.
