Kelli Malo - Elementary Education/Spanish, SR, Defensive Specialist, 5-6, Medway High School, Medway, MA. Team co-captain. One of the team's best on-court communicators and a sound passing and defensive player. In 1996, she ranked third on the team in aces and handled all 18 receptions cleanly and made 14 digs in win over Centre. In 1995, placed among the team leaders with a .902 passing percentage. Lettered two years for Coach Harry Ramsey's Medway High School team which won five straight state titles from 1989-94, during which time they set the school record for consecutive wins at 42 games. Also lettered one year with the state champion basketball team as a senior. Played club volleyball for Metrowest Juniors and Coach Brian Gerard. Serves as a residential advisor at Guilford. Daughter of Richard Malo and Anna Malo.
Laura.jpg (58424 bytes) Laura Nelson - Sports Management, SR, Outside Hitter, 5-10, Glendora High School, Glendora, CA. A dominant outside hitter bidding for a 3rd consecutive first team All-ODAC bid. Her strong offense often overshadows her solid passing and defense. In 1996, was first team All-ODAC pick and led the ODAC and was 27th in the nation with a 3.96 kills per game average. She set school records for digs in a match (53, vs Eastern Mennonite) and in a season. Placed second in the ODAC and 11th in the country in digs per game average (4.90). Set career high 34 kills versus Washington & Lee. Earned all-tournament honors at Greensboro College Invitational Tournament, Guilford College Invitational Tournament and the ODAC Championships. Nelson made her competitive tennis debut with Guilford's third-doubles team and went 10-6. Named to Guilford's Student-Athlete Honor Roll. During the summer, she made an all-star team which toured China. In 1995, Earned first team All-ODAC and All-ODAC Tournament laurels. Lead team in kills per game, hitting percentage, aces and digs.  During the summer, she made an all-star team which toured Australia. Transferred from Orange Coast (CA) College where she played one season. An excellent athlete, at Glendora High School, Laura was voted the Athlete of the year.  Laura competed in volleyball where she was first team All-League, Most Improved and MVP. She also played basketball and received Most Improved, MVP and second team San Gabriel Valley All-Star selection. Laura holds the school record in the discus and while on the track team was voted the best freshman, best sophomore, MVP and the Iron Woman award. Daughter of Byron and Judy Nelson.

Amy Shores - Management, SR, Outside Hitter, 5-10, Surry Central High School, Mt. Airy, NC.  Two-year team co-captain. A versatile and talented outside hitter and one of the team's primary passers and defenders. In 1996, she enjoyed the best season of her career, placing sixth in the ODAC in kills per game and ranked third among the league's digs leaders. Amy was named to the All-tournament team at the Greensboro College Invitational Ttournament for the second straight year. Against Washington & Lee she had a career high 24 kills and scooped up a career-best 47 digs against Eastern Mennonite. She has been named to the Academic All-ODAC team and Guilford Student-Athlete Honor Roll. In 1994 and 1995 had to overcome injuries that limited her playing time. Shores was named to the all-tournament team at 1995 Greensboro College Invitational. Named the conference player of the year for Surry Central High School where she also competed in swimming. Amy played for the Carolina Quest Volleyball Club and Coach Robyn Wesselman. A Presidential Scholar and dean's list student, member of the Websterian Pre-law Society and active with Guilford's Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Daughter of Jimmie and Kay Shores.

Emily Pavetto - Spanish/Psychology, SO, Defensive Specialist/Setter/Outside Hitter, 5-9,
Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, Silver Spring, MD. Played regularly in her initial season,
mostly as a defensive specialist. Ranked third among regulars last year in serve percentage and
tallied a career high 13 digs against Savannah College of Art & Design. A very good defensive
player with good passing skills. Earned a spot on Guilford's Student-Athlete Honor Roll. Was a varsity volleyball player for Coach Fran Duvall where they won back-to-back divisional titles in 1995 and 1996. Also lettered two years in swimming. Played club volleyball for Metro Volleyball Club and Coach Fran Duvall where they finished first at South PA's in 1995 and were regional champions. Daughter of Carl and Maryann Pavetto.
