Guilford Launches Online Community for Alumni

Guilford College has launched a new online community, Guilford College Alumni Connections. The online community builds on a series of alumni conversations events sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations that began nationally last year.

The online community was introduced at an alumni conversations event June 21 in Charlotte, N.C. It includes the existing e-mail for life program and adds many new features that can be used by all alumni. All of the new features are available now.

New features include:

Improved online directory: Alumni may search for and contact other alumni as well as update their own contact information and include a photo with their profile. There are strict privacy options for those who wish to keep their information hidden, and the contact e-mail system does not allow for those sending messages to see the e-mail addresses of the recipient.

  • Improved online submission of class notes: Alumni wishing to announce personal news can submit a class note with photos (if desired). Assistance is provided for creating the class note. Class notes will appear online and in the Guilford College Magazine.
  • Improved event registration: Registration for alumni gatherings and homecoming, among other events, will be handled online.
  • Regional alumni groups may post events that require registration. This feature works like a shopping cart at any online store.
  • Regional alumni group pages: Regional alumni groups may post their own pages to foster connections.
  • Online career center: Alumni may post and search for resumes online as a part of a broader career network, and gain assistance in finding career mentors. This feature will also allow alumni to express their willingness to be mentors.

Alumni may sign up for Guilford College Alumni Connections by visiting http://www.GuilfordConnections.com and clicking on the "register now" link. Registration takes about five minutes. For assistance or more information, contact Nick Boylan at nboylan@guilford.edu.
