Adult Programs

Application Instructions for Students Returning to Guilford

If you were enrolled as a student in the Center for Continuing Education at Guilford College and left for any reason, you must apply for readmission. Readmission is not guaranteed, but very likely if the student withdrew in good academic and financial standing. Traditional students who have been withdrawn for at least one academic year and are now over the age of 23 will be readmitted as CCE students, with similar likelihood of readmittance given good academic, financial and judicial standing. To re-enroll, you must:

Adult students age 23 or older who are seeking readmission can apply online. There is no fee to reapply.
If you attended another college since attending Guilford, an official transcript must also be submitted.
petition for reinstatement
If you were suspended or dismissed from the College, you must submit a petition for reinstatement. Suspended or dismissed students are expected to sit out at least one year before petitioning for reinstatement. The petition is a written statement in which you summarize the issues that led to the suspension/dismissal, outline what you have done since your suspension/dismissal to address these issues, provide evidence to suggest you are successfully addressing the issues and explain why you believe that you will be academically successful if you are readmitted.


Adults who wish to pursue college-level work without receiving grades or college credit may enroll as auditors. These students do not need to complete the application form or furnish the credentials required of degree candidates at our Greensboro, NC continuing education programs. Auditors may register on a space-available basis by obtaining written permission from the instructor on a registration form on the first day of the course.
