Is a private college education a good investment for me? Learn the truth about private, nonprofit colleges.
What is the age requirement for admission? Students must be at least 23 years old to be admitted through CCE. Students who are under the age of 23, but can prove that they are financially independent can also be considered for admission.
Is financial aid available? Yes! If you submit the FAFSA and include the Guilford College school code of 002931 our Student Financial Services counselors will be able to work with you to use federal, state and institutional financial aid to help you pay for college.
How long does it take to graduate? Guilford College is proud to have a graduation rate that is above the national average. Each student must complete at least 128 credits, made up of a series of general education requirements, one major and one minor. Guilford has a very generous transfer policy, but at least 32 credits must be done at Guilford as well as half the credits for your major and half the credits for the minor.
What are the schedule options for classes? Classes can be taken during the day, in the evening or even on Saturday. The evening schedule is set up so that students can be full-time while attending as few as two nights per week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
What majors are offered in the evening? We have 12 majors that are part of our evening degree program. All requirements for the major and the general education can be completed as part of the evening course schedule for the following majors: Accounting, African American Studies, Business Administration, Community and Justice Studies, Computing Technology and Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Education Studies, Forensic Accounting, Forensic Biology, History, Political Science, and Psychology.
What about transfer credit? We have a generous transfer policy that includes accepting an unlimited number of transfer credits from regionally accredited four-year colleges and universities and up to 64 credits from regionally accredited two-year community colleges and technical colleges. We also accept up to 16 credits for military service and up to 16 credits for College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests.
How many students are in each class? On average there are 25 students in each class.
How does registration for classes occur? Once a student is admitted they will be invited to meet with a CCE advisor. We will go over degree requirements and help you choose classes.
Campus Involvement? Even though our program is exclusively for students age 23 and older, there are lots of opportunities to be involved on campus. We have an adult Student Government Association and the Friend-to-Friend mentoring program. All students are invited to attend the Bryan Series lectures. Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, and Ken Burns are just some of the exciting speakers we have had. And you can always show your school spirit by attending a football game or one of the productions done by our Theatre Studies students.
