Sample Student Portfolios
Guilford College prides itself on providing a practical liberal arts education. This is demonstrated by the college's Strategic and Long-range Plan. The plan calls for students to not only experience excellence in the classroom, but to expand experiences and learning outside the classroom. This is called The Guilford Challenge. As part of the Challenge, students will create digital portfolios that showcase the wholistic approach to learning and education that they have received. The following are samples of portfolios from a pilot portfolio project conducted in Spring 2006.

- Catherine Milner - "I chose to build an electronic portfolio because the portfolio would allow me to show medical schools and possible employers all of the hard work I put into my years at Guilford. To admission counselors and mangers I will no longer be a two dimensional resume on a single sheet of paper but a multifaceted individual. From the actual production process I received a completed electronic portfolio, professional help writing my resume and personal statement, basic knowledge about web design, an opportunity to meet the board of trustees, and invaluable time to contemplate the direction I wanted my life to take after Guilford and before medical school. I sent a rough draft of the portfolio to my mother for her impute, she sent it onto the head of exercise science at the university she works for. A few weeks later I received an invitation to apply for the master's program I am now attending, and let me tell you, getting a master's is so much easier than graduating from Guilford. (At least so far.) "
