Guilford Musical Ensembles Travel to Ireland
Three Guilford College musical ensembles traveled this spring to Ireland, the first international tour for the groups. The Chamber Singers, the Guitar Ensemble and the Guilford College Choir, led by Wendy Looker, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, and Kami Rowan, assistant professor of music and director of guitar studies, began in Dublin, where they performed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The trip also offered participants a chance to tour some of Ireland’s most popular destinations, including the monastic site at Glendalough, Killarney National Park and Blarney castle — where they indeed kissed the Blarney stone. In Dublin, the group also saw the illuminated medieval Book of Kells at Trinity College.
