The Department of Residence Life seeks to provide a safe and viable living and learning atmosphere for all residential students and to foster community and leadership. Residence Life provides a clean, comfortable, well-maintained and secure campus living environment that enhances collaboration, community, programming and scholarship between and among students, faculty and the staff, while expecting students to accept responsibility for their role in creating a positive living environment.

Resident Advisors (RAs) and professional residence life staff members (Hall Directors) live in the residence halls, working to create a positive living-learning environment. The Residence Life Office at Guilford College for 2008-2009 is comprised of 31 Resident Advisors and eleven professional staff members including eight Hall Directors. We serve an on-campus population of over 1000 in 8 residence halls and 5 on-campus houses. The staff is readily available for support, advising, programming and introducing residents to the many resources of the College.

The residence halls are a living and learning environment designed to promote community among the residents. Guilford College is a residential college and all traditional age students under the age of 23 are required to live on campus unless granted permission to live off campus based on the criteria and guidelines set by the Office for Campus Life.
