26. Do you have guest accommodations?
Yes. The Milner Guest House, with five private bedrooms, is available for parents, family, and alumni for a charge. Contact the guest house manager at (336)316 - 2810.
27. What are the office hours and are you open on Saturday?
Mon - Fri, 8:30 - 5:00, On Saturday we are open, by appointment, from 10:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
28. When can I get a tour of the campus?
Tours are available by appointment through the Enrollment office by calling (336) 316-2100 or 800 992-7759.
29. How can I transfer to your institution?
Submit application, Dean of students form, essay, high school transcript and SAT/ACT (if under 30 credit hours earned), all college transcripts and recommendations. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred for consideration for admission. Thayle Jackson Heggie (336-316-2382) is your contact; contact her for more information.
30. When shall I come for an interview?
Interviews are available by appointment through the Admission Office by calling (336) 316-2100.
31. If I am interested in athletics, who do I contact?
Phone the admission office to notify us of your interest. You will be put in contact with the appropriate coach. Feel free to contact the coach directly. All coaches are listed at www.guilford.edu/athletics.
32. Can I request a specific roommate?
Yes.
33. What is the closest bank?
A Wachovia ATM is located on campus in Founders Hall. Branches of Wachovia and Bank of America are all located within walking distance of the campus.
34. What does a postponement of my admissions decision mean?
Postponement of your admission means that additional information is needed in order to determine if acceptance is warranted. Please be sure to send transcripts (i.e., for spring semester), as soon as they are available. If you applied by the deadline, you should have a response for fall by June 1, and for spring, December 15. Contact Thayle Jackson Heggie if you have further questions.
35. What kind of facilities are available at the Health Center?
The center is located on campus, and is staffed by a full-time P.A., a part-time nurse, and the campus physician, who is available by appointment. Referrals off-campus can be made as necessary. Two counselors are also available for brief therapy.
36. Can I challenge my rejection?
Yes. If you have new, unreported, or additional information that you feel would affect our admission decision, you may submit that and request your application be reviewed.
37. Can I waive the matriculation fee?
No.

39. What kind of student services do you provide?
Guilford offers a wide variety of student services - it would be impossible to summarize them here, though they include, health services, counseling, The Learning Commons, and the like. Contact your admissions counselor with specific requests.
40. What are the deadlines for:
Submitting an Application: Deadlines for applications in the fall is June 1; for spring, December 1.
Paying a Deposit: Deposit deadline for fall is July 15; for spring, January 1.
41. Do you have late registration?
Yes - you may register for a course until the specified date listed on the academic calendar (generally up until about 10 days into the semester).
42. Is your institution a party school?
While all campuses struggle with underage alcohol and illegal drug consumption (which Guilford confronts vigorously), Guilford's lack of a Greek system, and its predominantly on-campus student population minimizes the problem. Also, Guilford is very rigorous academically, and attracts serious-minded students who wish to grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. To that end, Guilford is not generally regarded as a "party school".
43. Where do I eat on campus?
Options include the Main dining hall in Founders and the Underground (Grille 155)
44. Do I have to live on campus?
Most students live on campus until 21 or they have 88 credit hours. The application for off-campus living is available online. Statistics show students who live on campus perform better both academically and socially and become more involved in the campus community.
45. May I keep a pet in my room?
Only fish.
46. Is the "legal" drinking age in your state 21?
Yes.
47. Describe the climate.
Greensboro generally has hot summers coupled with mild winters. Daytime temperatures in the coldest months generally range in the 30's to low 40's. We have some ice and snow, but rain is our primary precipitation that time of year. The fall and spring are beautiful, with colorful foliage, blue skies, low humidity, and mild temperatures in autumn, and brilliant blooms in the spring months.
49. Are books issued by instructors in class?
No. Books are assigned by professors and purchased in the campus bookstore. Generally, both new and used books (at a reduced cost), are available.
50. Where will I get my mail?
The campus post office is located in the basement of Founders Hall. Each student is issued a mailbox with a box number.
