The Office of Public Safety at Guilford is responsible for helping to ensure a safe and secure academic and residential environment. One important aspect of its mission is to encourage the active involvement of all community members in keeping the college a safe and secure environment for education.

The Office of Public Safety is staffed fully in-house at Guilford. The campus grounds are patrolled 24 hours daily throughout the calendar year. Various services are available through the department including an emergency response line, crime prevention education, a whistle alert program, and an on-campus escort service. More detailed information about the department is available in the college's Guide to Campus Safety distributed to all students in October of each academic year. The college's student newspaper, The Guilfordian, regularly publishes notices about security-related incidents occurring on campus.

Motor Vehicle and Parking Policies

Guilford students may operate motor vehicles on campus provided they are properly registered and parked in the designated parking areas. Students who operate motor vehicles are required to pay a motor vehicle registration fee and maintain full insurance protecting others. Temporary and visitor parking permits may be obtained free of charge from the public safety department, located in Bauman Telecommunications Center. All persons are expected to exercise care and consideration for the safety of others and to observe state, local and campus traffic regulations. Students must also register bicycles through Public Safety. Further information will be distributed when students arrive.
