What does Guilford have to offer my child?
Guilford is a very unique college--one that welcomes and celebrates the individual student. We draw on Quaker and liberal arts traditions to prepare men and women for a lifetime of learning, work and constructive action dedicated to the betterment of the world. Take some time to learn more about our academic programs. You'll find a curriculum that emphasizes our core values and provides numerous opportunities for study abroad, internships and service work. With a 16:1 student to faculty ratio and small discussion-based courses, our students receive excellent preparation for wherever life takes them, whether they continue on in graduate school or enter the professional world right after graduation. Guilford also offers a rich campus life program, with student involvement in 16 inter-collegiate athletic teams, a strong intramural & recreational sports program, 37 student organizations, and a vibrant campus ministry program. They can also take advantage of hearing world-renowned speakers through the Bryan Series.
How does my child apply for admission?
The application process begins by applying online. Students may apply for admission using the Common Application, the Universal Application, or the Guilford online application. They must also submit supporting materials. We take several factors into consideration during the review process. We do not have Early Decision. Our Early Action deadline is January 15th with notification by February 15th and our Regular Decision deadline is February 15th with notification by April 1st. Students must submit their $400 enrollment deposit by May 1st.
How can my child pay for a Guilford education?
Guilford offers a variety of merit-based scholarships and need-based aid. Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on a student's academic performance. Students should submit the FAFSA after January 1st of their senior year to determine what types of need-based aid they might qualify for. Please visit the Student Financial Services web site to learn more about the financial aid and student billing process.
What types of support (academic and social) does Guilford provide?
We realize that going to college is a big step for your child. Whether Guilford is 40 miles or 400 miles from your home, we understand the importance of providing support to you and your child during their time at our college. We offer various types of academic support through our Learning Commons. We also have a Counseling Center and a Student Health Center located right on campus. Our campus Public Safety Office is open and officers are available 24 hours a day. Our First Year Program facilitates our New Student Orientation program (CHAOS), the First Year Experience courses and labs, and the student programming during a student's first year at Guilford. Our residence halls are designed to provide a safe and healthy living environment for students.
Who is my child's admission counselor?
Our admission counselors work with students based on high school state. So, if your child's home state is California but they go to school in Connecticut, your contact would be the counselor for Connecticut. Click here to find your child's admission counselor.
