Physics

An individualized course of study is prepared for students seeking a B.S. in Physics to:

  • pursue employment in a technical field
  • prepare for graduate study
  • prepare for graduate study in Astrophysics

Major Course Work

An individualized course of study will be planned by the student in consultation with faculty advisers, based on models for the student's chosen career path. A total of 32 credits in Physics must be completed including, at least:

  • Two semesters of experimental physics (PHYS 231, 232, 331, 332)
  • An industrial or research internship approved by the Department or four credits of Portfolio Development (PHYS 251, 252, 353, 354, 455, 456)
  • A physics thesis (PHYS 470 or 490)
