Life Sciences

Major Course Work

The Life Sciences major is designed for students who are interested in the biological sciences but whose career goals do not require the quantitative skills in Physics or Calculus that the traditional Biology major includes. The goal of the major is to provide students with sufficient knowledge of the life sciences in order to prepare them for such careers as environmental law, environmental science, environmental education, national or state park naturalists, medical illustrator or author, marketing and sales of pharmaceuticals or scientific equipment, laboratory technician, or medical support staff. The major consists of 8 Biology courses including BIOL 114, BIOL 115, and BIOL 313 (Note CHEM 111 and 112 are prerequisites for Biology 313.) A student majoring in Life Sciences would select a concentration of their choice, such as Environmental Studies, Applied Ethics, or Pre-Law.
