Geology and Earth Sciences, Earth Studies
The Earth Studies Major is available only to students who matriculated in or before the spring 2006 semester. This major permits freedom in the choosing of a broad range of introductory science courses. Students may combine this major with other fields of study, especially with environmental studies, education studies, other sciences, social sciences, pre-law, business, and writing.
Major Course Work
- GEOL 121: Geology and the Environment; GEOL 122: Historical Geology;
- GEOL 211: Earth Materials (prerequisite: CHEM 111);
- GEOL 335 -- Structure of the Earth;
- GEOL 415: Ancient Life and Time;
- Any one laboratory science course other than CHEM 111-112.

NOTES:
- When entering the major, the student should take the introductory sequence (GEOL 121-122) as soon as possible.
- Take CHEM 111 before or concurrently with GEOL 211
