Fall Semester
FYE 101, Eng. 102, Two of the following:Chem. 111, Math,1 Foreign Language
Spring Semester
Eng. 151/Historical Perspective, Bio. 114 or 115, Two of the following:Chem. 112,2 Math, Elective.
1 Preferably Math 121 or 122, depending on student's background and placement test. Math 112 or Math 115 could be used as a first course.
2 Students who plan to attend graduate or professional school (such as Medical, Dental, or Veterinary), pursue a health professions career (medical technology, physician assistant, etc.) or seek employment as a laboratory technician must take Chemistry 111 and 112 in their first year.
Sophomore Year
Fall
Biology 114 or 115, Requirement, Two of the following:Chem. 111 (if not taken in first year), Math (if not taken in first year), Chem. 2311
Spring
Biology elective, Requirement, Two of the following:Chem. 112, Math, Chem. 232 and 2351
1Organic Chemistry (Chem. 231, 232 and 235) is required by most medical, dental, veterinary and medical technology schools and by many graduate programs. In addition, Organic Chemistry is strongly recommended for those students planning to work as laboratory technicians, research assistants, or in scientific sales.
Junior Year
Fall
Biology 3131, Physics 211 or 121, Requirements
Spring
Biology elective, Physics 212 or 122, Requirements
1 Biology 313 should be completed by the end of the Junior year.
Senior Year
IDS 401 plus remaining Biology and distribution requirements.
Internships and independent projects are encouraged; graduate schools, professional programs, and employers value these kinds of experiences.
