For parents!

Parents, we know that you are just as interested in your student coming to Guilford College as they are. We have planned programming specifically for you during CHAOS to ensure that you are receiving the information you need to make this transition easier for you too!  A two day parent program is planned beginning in the afternoon on move-in day (Wednesday, August 13, 2008) and ending after lunch on Thursday, so if you are able, please stay in Greensboro overnight and join us.

While the schedule is still being created, here are some key events to keep in mind:

The President's Reception

Held on New Garden Lawn, this reception is a good way for you and your student to meet and mingle with staff, faculty and Guilford's President, Kent John Chabotar. There will be plenty of food and cool drinks after a long day of moving in, in what will most likely be a typical North Carolina August scorcher!

Parents' Dessert Reception

New Student Programs, in conjunction with The Office of Advancement, is planning an evening dessert reception for parents on Wednesday night. Come, eat and socialize with other parents who are probably feeling the same way you are!  This will be a good time to share experiences with other parents, and to find out about the resources we offer to parents to become involved in the Guilford community along with their students.

Parents Panel

During this session on Thursday, you will have the opportunity to speak with current Guilford students about their experiences here at Guilford College. They should offer a frank, open view of what students on this campus face on a daily basis, how the Quaker testimonies play into life at Guilford, and what kind of support students may be looking for from their parents. Ask away...this is your opportunity to find out what your student's life at Guilford might be like!

You will also have the opportunity to talk to representatives from campus resources:  The First Year Experience program, The Learning Commons, Student Health and the Counseling Center, to name a few.
