First Year Advisory Board

The First-Year Advisory Board (FYAB) is a group of First-Year Students who act as liaisons between the First-Year Class and the faculty and administration. We help ease the transition for fellow First-Year students into college by providing an outlet for concerns and ideas from the first year class, as well as providing programming to help strengthen the first year community.

Statement of Purpose:

The First Year Advisory Board will be a group of representatives from each FYE class, brought together biweekly to:

  • Serve as an information gathering and disseminating source for the First Year class,
  • Provide programming specifically to the meet the needs of the First Year class,
  • Provide a forum for discussion of issues relevant to & pertaining to the First Year class,
  • Serve as a facilitator in creating community within the members of the First Year class,
  • Provide a representative member of the First Year class to serve on Senate.

Representing members of the FYAB are selected from each First-Year Experience course to help the position throughout the year. As we are the only representative body of just First-Year students, it is our duty to inform the First-Year class, through our FYE classes, about important campus events that affect or involve us.
