January Orientation for Traditional New and Transfer Students
Saturday, January 10, 2009
11:30 -- 1 p.m.Arrival at Guilford
Founders Hall, 2nd Floor
Come to the 2nd floor of Founders Hall to begin your check-in process. You will receive your welcome packet, room key, student ID, and parking and vehicle registration information.
If you are a commuter, you may want to delay your arrival until 12:30 p.m.
1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Quantitative Literacy testing
King Hall, Room 101
Complete testing for math skills placement. If you need accommodations for more time, please feel free to stay as long as you like. Any other requests should go through Kim Garner in the Learning Commons (kgarner@guilford.edu, (336)316-2451)
1:00 – 2 p.m.Families of New and Transfer students
Boren Lounge, Founders Hall, 1st Floor
Jennifer Agor, Associate Dean for Campus Life, and others will talk about the curriculum and campus life at Guilford and answer your questions. Students should be in Quantitative Literacy testing at this time.
3:00 – 4p.m. Transfer Student Small Group Session
Boren Lounge, Founders Hall, 1st Floor
Join Assistant Director of Admissions, Thayle Heggie and Associate Dean for Campus Life, Jen Agor who will answer all your questions about Guilford and what you need now that you’ve arrived.
5:00 - ~7p.m. Bowling!
Meet in Founders Lobby at 4:45
Come bowling with your orientation team leaders, Morgan and Derek, and your new classmates. Food, shoes and a couple of games will be provided to give you a chance to get to know each other and relax on your first night at Guilford.

Log into your account for the first time, learn how to navigate Lotus Notes. Those who need Foreign Language testing will remain.
11:30 – 1 p.m. Lunch in the Dining Hall
Dining Hall, Founders Hall (main level)
Use your new ID to eat lunch in the dining hall.
1:00 -- 4 p.m.Academic Orientation for New and Transfer Students (Mandatory)*
King Hall, Room 223
Academic Honor Code and Judicial Procedures Orientation
Receive your Guilford College handbook and review the Academic Honor Code and our judicial procedures with the Associate Academic Dean, Steve Shapiro and Director of Student Judicial Affairs, Sandy Bowles.
Advising and Course Registration (Mandatory)
After Associate Academic DeanSteve Shapiro outlines the Guilford curriculum, you will meet with your academic adviser and register for courses.
*Note: All new and transfer students MUST attend this session in order to register for classes today during this time.
