China

Experience a fall semester program in Beijing that combines language study and a rich variety of extra curricular activities. This program allows students to take advantage of living in a country that is not only one of the world's oldest civilizations but one of today's fastest growing economies. No prior Chinese required.

England

Study in London, taking courses and an internship while living in South Kensington, while getting to know the world's most multi-cultural city; experience the rich academic environment of one of the oldest universities in the world at St. Clare's, Oxford; or choose from a variety of direct enrollment options in other British universities through IRSS.

France

Intrigued by French language and culture? Study in Paris at the Sorbonne or at the University of Haute Bretagne in Rennes. Guilford's options in France include the Paris consortium program with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and an agreement with CIEE at Rennes. Prior college-level French required.

Germany

The Munich program, led by a Guilford faculty member, offers language immersion through home stays with German families; courses in German politics, art, and history; and a special course designed to take advantage of Munich's vast cultural and other resources. One year of college-level German is recommended.

Ghana

Learn Fante, the local language; take courses at the University of Cape Coast; participate in a special community development project; live with local families; come to know the natural and human beauty of Ghana. Guilford faculty provide on-campus orientation for this program and an on-site coordinator directs activities in country.

Ireland

Through IRSS, study at the beautiful and exciting University of Limerick, or choose Dublin as your destination where the Foundation for International Education partners with Guilford for a program with the Dublin School of Business.

Italy

Does living in a castle in the Italian Alps and working in vineyard appeal to you? Experience the program in Brunnenburg, a distinctive study abroad opportunity led by a Guilford faculty member that introduces students to the poetry of Ezra Pound (in a class taught by his daughter), the history of art and religion in northern Italy, and the practice of agriculture in a fascinating region of Europe. What about a pilot program in Siena, Spring 2008?  Live in beautiful Tuscany, studying Italian, art and music history.

Japan

Guilford students have a semester or year-long option to study at Kansai Gaidai or at International Christian University in Tokyo, an institution dedicated to "the ideals of peace, democracy and internationalism."  For students interested in Japanese language and culture, these exchange programs offer fabulous opportunities to gain new insight and understanding of an ancient and thoroughly contemporary society. No prior Japanese required.

Mexico

Guilford's program in Guadalajara, a very large metropolitan city, gives students the opportunity to take courses through the Universityof Guadalajara and to work first-hand in community development with an organization called Intercolonias. One year of college-level Spanish required.

Netherlands

Study at the University of Maastricht through its Center for European Studies in courses structured around problem-solving and discussion, much like Guilford's. This program has particular appeal for students in political science, history, and international studies. No prior foreign language required.

Scotland

Experience the University of Dundee, a campus in the heart of the city, on a spectacular site overlooking the River Tay estuary and the surrounding hills of Fife and Pertshire.   This direct enrollment program (available through IRSS) guarantees single study bedrooms to all Study Abroad students and the University offers both self catered options and meal plans. A wide variety of course options serve almost all majors; biology and other science majors can take lab science courses.

Spain

Guilford's options include study sites in Madrid(through FIE), Alcalá and Seville(through CIEE). These direct enrollment programs primarily serve students studying Spanish and at least three semesters of college-level Spanish (more in some cases) are required.
